The idea of being successful is a social construct

The idea of being successful is a social construct.

Really.

Let that sink in.

You do not need to be successful to be good.

You do not need to be successful to be alive.

You do not need to be successful to hold your inalienable rights.

You do not need to be successful to be human, to live a life that matters, to live a life that feels good.

Success can be incredible. It can help you share a message. It can help you help others. It can help you establish a secure life for yourself.

But what it can’t do? Is make you whole; make you perfect; make you a good human. You are already here. You are already EVERYTHING. You do not need to WAIT until you succeed to say “Okay- I guess I’m doing alright.”

Life is fucking hard. NOBODY HAS THE ANSWER. Nobody. Success is a social construct we created to feel better about the never ending shit show that is life (and yes, all the beauty and wonderful randomness too). Succeeding in a career, in a goal, in a mission is a way to outwardly show others that- HEY- I’m here and I’m doing good. You never ever need that to be good inside. You’re not going to find it there- you’re already here.

*personal note*

This is just something I realized recently and I wanted to share. I literally have the ability to take care of myself and save money and travel the world but I’ve felt bad for the longest time for not having a set career path that I can “succeed” in. I JUST realized that was all social programming. I was letting myself feel bad for years based on what other people told me was right. How f’ed up is that!!!

There are SO many different ways to live a good life. You never ever ever need to perform outwards to others to be perfect inside.

And if this doesn’t resonate, maybe it’s not for you. My path is not yours. This is the time to find YOUR answer- take what feels right and leave the rest. YOU CAN LIVE IN WHICHEVER WAY FEELS TRUE TO YOU. You can be outside of the norm. Get outside of your bubble as much as you can. Learn from lives that are so different from yours. Be curious about the human experience and discard the limitations that others push on you.

You are loved, sincerely.
